The Role of the KY SkillsUSA Foundation
The KY SkillsUSA Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides critical financial support to make SkillsUSA Kentucky programs possible. While SkillsUSA Kentucky is the organizing body, the Foundation supplies funding for student competition registrations, travel, uniforms, scholarships, and chapter incentives — costs that can otherwise prevent students from participating.
Founded in 2000 and granted 501(c)(3) status in 2024, the Foundation accepts tax-deductible donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations. Every dollar goes directly to supporting students — not administrative overhead.

Why SkillsUSA Matters for Kentucky
Kentucky — like much of the country — faces a significant skilled trades shortage. Industries across the state are struggling to find qualified workers in welding, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other critical trades. SkillsUSA Kentucky is one of the primary pipelines producing the next generation of these workers.
Students who compete in SkillsUSA develop hands-on technical skills, professional habits, and industry certifications that employers actively seek. Many SkillsUSA competitors receive job offers or apprenticeship placements before they finish their programs.
